Throw Out Bearing ?

I read in the conversion article that Jose recommends a McLeoud hydraulic unit when using the T5. I am putting mine together right now. My engine is stock other than the Offenhauser intake and 390 CFM Holley. Will a slave cylinder unit work or isn't there room? I wasn't sure why the Mcleod unit was recommended. Thanks - Tony

That may be an older article, as the kit now includes the bracket for an external slave cylinder. The internal unit would require transmission removal in the event of failure. With the external slave you would need the normal release bearing.

Hi,

V6Jose would tell you that he used that unit in the beginning, but later changed to the slave cylinder, and that is why you get a slave bracket in his kit. The Wilwood or the Neal Performance slave works nicely; you will have to modify the Bell housing in the area where the Mustang II stock clutch cable used to mount. It is pretty straight forward, you cut out the part where the cable used to go through to the clutch lever.

I have pictures of it if you would like to see them, send me your e-mail address, it seems too big to post here.:)
