TDC on 1725

Am rebuilding my 66 Alpine. Haynes manual says TDC on compression stroke is when dots on timing gears are aligned. Several posts say to rotate 360 degrees from dots in line to get compression stroke to install oil pump.
Which is correct?

Yeah much discussion over the years (do a search).

Long story short timing gears are assembled with #4 TDC, so rotate 180 degrees for correct oil pump/distributor alignment.
