SV engine and transmission for sale

I have the original 1725 from my 67 SV that I removed for the V6 project. It was rebuilt in 1984. A retired machined from Pirelli tire who was living in Hanford CA rebuilt it and did a great job but never drove it much. I bought it in 1990 and put 20000 miles on it over the next 15 years. It was used just periodically since then. I drove it the day I started the conversion about a year ago. It was running great when I took it out with good oil pressure. The only oil it used was what dripped on the floor. The rear main leaks. The side panel over the push rods leak. Assorted other oil leaks. Transmission works great. I have the twin Stromberg's as well with the throttle linkage. I noticed the exhaust manifold has a crack on the tube from the 4th cylinder underneath the rear carb mount.

It is sitting on a pallet and I am trying to decide what to do with it. I could sell it as is, or part it out.

One possible bugaboo I see in the photos: just to the rear of the exhaust manifold there should be either a large bolt or a blank plate on the head. (There used to be a coolant line routed from the head thru the intake manifold on early series cars). One this one the head looks to be plugged by some unknown material. ??

Not sure about a bugaboo, but it has been running since 1985 with no overheating problems. That includes freeway driving and stop and go traffic in the middle of summer in San Antonio. I went through the manual for the 1725 engine and there is no mention of any attachment of any cooling hoses or heater hoses to the rear of the head. Below are two pictures of the area. It appears to be a hex plug or nipple with a cast type cap.

Still have the engine / transmission for sale. How about $200 plus shipping. I’ll put it on a pallet and head it your way. Hate to send it to the scrapyard.

Fastenal ships location to location for what I'm told is very reasonable cost. They have a towmotor for loading/unloading. They told me they ship engines and other bulky car parts all the time. This tip brought to you by another forum member - thanks Johnny!
