Steering wheel removal--SV

I got all of the cowling stuff off--turn indicator, etc. What do I do now? The round center piece that locks the in/out adjustment unscrews but then just keeps spinning and won't come off. How do I get this off to get to the wheel nut?

steering wheel

take a small screw driver and pry the black center out ,remove the bolt holding the adjuster on .then the three screws that hold the horn ring and you're there.

Have you looked at the 'TECHNICAL" section on the SAOCA site? Under 'Tech Tips" is the online Series V Workshop Manual. Click on the 'Steering" section J and it discribes the removal process.

Good luck. I was fortunate and mine came right off.

Dennis, that Series V manual seems to be written in a language other than American!

But thanks, all. I didn't realize that little center piece had to be prized out. I'll get to it on my next workday.

I recently installed an aftermarket steering wheel on my S3. Had to cut the adjuster down to fit under the horn button also welded a couple tabs on it to be able to tighten/loosen the thing.
