Starting Problem

I have a 65 Apline fitted with an electric fuel pump. I noticed that the pump runs for several minutes, trying to get fuel up to the carb. When attempting to start cold, starting is very difficult and often requires starting fluid to get it started. When the car is warm, it restarts without a problem. Any suggestions?

George,

I have the same problem and I have a stock fuel pump mounted on the block. Could it be the 1725 engine? I can pour gas right in the carb and she starts right up. ???

Stock pumps go bad the diaphrams well go south with age, and with the ethonal in gas issue will make them go bad faster!

I just replaced the diaphram in my Series II fuel pump. Well, now that I'm experienced in diaphram replacement, guess I'll do for the Series IV.

Wouldn't you know, I got in my Series IV after it's been sitting for a week, turned the key and, VAROOOOOM, she started right up. After what I said in my last post. I was so suprised I didn't know what to do. So I took her for a ride. :D
