Smoking distributor

I think i linked up the wrong wires to the coils when i replaced the stock one with a lucas. When I put the lucas on the car it was back firing a lot so i switched it back to the stock coil. Thats where I must have mixed up the connections. The distributor starting smoking and when I pulled the cap i could see the black insulated wire had burnt through. I guess I need a new one now? Can someone reccomend a good distributor I can just pop in to replace the old one?

The distributor is just a case, you did not damage it.

What you probably DID do is to burn the primary wire that goes from the points to the outside of the cap. Easy to replace, you dont need even to pull the dizzy.

Do also replace your points, they are probably cooked.
