Let me start by saying I was first introduced to the Alpine while stationed in Bermuda (June 1959 August 61). A friend bought the first or one of the first Alpines to come to the Island. A 1959 Carnival Red. The engine had to be reduced in Cu In to under 1200 if I remember correctly because of the restrictions maintained by the Bermuda Government. Never the less it was plenty powerful for a couple of guys enjoying the Beaches and girls that came over from the States; the UK and other places around the world.

Then while stationed in Charleston 1961-67 I was introduced to the other Sunbeams. The Hillman (little Red and white) station wagon which got great mileage. Then the Tiger came along but by that time I had a family and needed a bit more room. Next, after retirement, I returned home to SC and found a one owner 1965 SIV ST OD color code 70 with a hard top and other nice options. This was in 1980. We drove it a few years and put in storage until available restoration time. I also bought a '65 SIV (early model) GT BW35 that was for parts. But only had one fuel tank removed. It has been in storage since 1980. But now getting the V6Jose treatment. I bought a '67 SV in 1986 for my elder son which he ran the wheels off of until he went into the Army. It was in storage from 1988 till April 2011 when it started getting full restoration. It runs nicely but not fully on the road yet!

I like the SIV's and SV's better for all round availability of parts and improvements made by Rootes over the years. I believe you will never regret making the decision for the SV.
