Series I & Series III

Hood (bonnet) and trunk lid will probably interchange.

SI and S3 bonets have different part numbers, but the hinges and locks are the same. The differences are probably the holes for the badge and the location of the bracket for the prop that holds the thing open (this prop is definitely different S1 to S3). Trunk lid again has different part numbers, But I think they would interchange.

Doors as Michael says are different. The S3 has different side windows, winding mechanisms, window channels etc. S3 has the 1/4 windows on the doors. It may be possible to drill holes/adapt stuff, but I have not seen the two side by side so can't offer any more definite information.

Let me put it this way. Will Series I doors fit on a Series III if I have all the Series I internal parts for the door.

I think somewhere along the line the doors themselves were changed, were they not?

I believe there's a difference in the size of the doors as well. The series I is slightly shorter front to back compared to the later ones if I recall correctly.

Rob,

The SI/II have a different drainage system to the S3-V. They use a small metal drain strip that seals under the A post when closed, the later cars have them cast into the door, so perhaps they have a different height or depth. The SI/II window guides would be quite difficult to fit aswell and vice versa, to be honest i dont think it could be done as the SI/II have a special relife cast into them to mount the window guides.

I am far from being an expert on these great cars. But I do own two Series I cars and one Series II car. I can tell you that the bonnet hinges on the Series I are different from all the rest of the variants. The bonnet on the Series I does not open as far as the rest for two reasons 1.) the hinges are different and 2.) the grill work will not allow Series II hinges to be used on Series I, I have tried it.
