It's just a momentary switch, so connecting a test lamp between the connectors and ground should do the trick.

A quick check is to turn the ignition switch ON (don't start the engine!), gear lever in 3rd or 4th, overdrive lever ON(UP) and you should hear an audible CLICK as the OD engages. Then shift from 3rd or 4th to 1st or 2nd and you should hear another CLICK as the OD automatically disengages.

Agree, Jersey, if the system is complete and working that's a great way to test the switch and the entire circuit. However if there's a faulty relay, wiring or servo, or if the engagement lever is not properly adjusted, this test may fail and would not necessarily tell much about the switch proper.
