Seat Foam

Alpine Series IV - Does anyone have instructions or detailed pictures of how the foam in the lower seat is supposed to be installed. I have a new bottom seat foam cushion but I took out a lot more foam(was done bush league) than is here now. Is there supposed to be an insert foam in the middle of the bottom foam?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No pictures just experience putting these seats together. You should have seat straps on the frame
which support the foam. These are available from either Classic Sunbeam or Sunbeam Specialties.
They have the retentions for the straps as well.

The bottom foam fits in the seat frame and is supported by the straps. I've sometimes glued the foam
to the frames as well. You need to glue the center part of the seat cover to the depression in the foam
to get it to look right.

All this assumes you bought the seat foam from either of the above mentioned suppliers.
Good luck & post some pictures!

I don't know if your Series IV seats are similar to Series V seats, but if so, perhaps these photos from when I rebuilt my SV seats may be helpful. (Note that I was also adding heated panels, but the basic assembly was unaffected.)

There is a guide to the seat rebuild on the TigersUnited site.. and maybe one on TEAE as well...worth a look.
also the Se/iV seats have the split backrest squab with the wire guides... A little more involved than the SV

Nice pics and very useful. These are the SV seats.. a little different to the S3/IV.

The early seats have webbing vs diaphragm to support the base, use a seperated backrest with wire guides .. pleat number is fewer.. but that's irrelevant.. but the first 2 details are significant
