S V oil filter to engine base unit - cleanout

I pulled the top section of the SIV's SV engine oil filter to engine base unit for inspection and cleanout.

Now I'm looking at the "2nd base unit" which is below the first <s>.

None of my books picture that unit, and before pulling it, I thought to ask if it is hooked to anything inside the engine - or does it just sit there to route oil?

I don't want to pull more than needed at this point, just doing prepatory maintenance.

S V oil filter to engine base

Found the answer. The 2nd part routes oil to the cooler, does not hook to anything below.
