Rear View Mirror Disassembly

Can anyone provide any guidance on how to remove the stem from the back of the mirror on a Series V? I was able to remove the glass, but it didn't really reveal anything.

Thanks,
Andy

There is a riveted piece that holds the ball on the stem in the "socket" so it can swivel. You could drill out the rivets, but would have to find a way to put it back together.

Yes, the rivets have to come out. The originals are blind rivets which are hard to replace. You can use normal rivets or small allen bolts

It's become more apparent since as Rick of SS said " You're parts are in a container parked off shore some place. There's a related thread on re silvering the convex mirror of possibly you are getting some cut for the flat ones?
