Rear-End from 4.22 to 3.70

I'm thinking about making this change. The Rootes Parts Service in Holland have the gears. I would use a rear-end shop to do the work.

What do I need besides the gears? Do they have to pull the diff? Is this a good time to renew anything else back there?

Thanks for any advice or direction.

Replace ring gear bolts, bearings and seals while you are in there.

You should buy assorted pinion and ring gear shims for the benefit of your rear end guy because what is in the current diff will differ from what the new R&P will need.

Also be aware that some folks have reported the 3.70 sets available from Holland as being noisy. Perhaps just installation errors with the R&P setup but who knows for sure.
