I received this from the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation on my SAOCA email account, for anyone who is in the area and interested.

Join us Saturday, September 12th, for our 8th Annual “Rallye for a Cure!” This year’s Rallye will start at our new host, New Country BMW in Hartford, and will culminate with parade laps and lunch at Lime Rock Park.
The best parts about the Rallye— the route and creative clues, parade laps on the track, and the good feeling that comes from supporting a great cause— can be enjoyed while physically distanced, and we are committed to making all parts of the Rallye safe from start to finish! For example, our Drivers’ Club meeting will be sent via video in advance of the Rallye, and the Awards will be presented on Zoom at 7 pm that night. More details forthcoming, but rest assured, we will keep our Rallye family safe.
Please spread the word by forwarding this email and REGISTER today!
See you there!

Just in case anyone is interested, here is the latest news from the Rallye For A Cure people:

Hello, Rallye Family!
We hope you and yours are well.
We are excited to see you on September 12th!

  • If you have not registered yet, please do so as soon as possible. We will not be taking registrations at the door this year.
  • If you have already registered, please remember to send in your check, made payable to JDRF, to Linda at 6 Barksdale Rd, West Hartford, CT 06117. We are trying to complete all paperwork in advance of the event.
  • Please feel free to share our event with others! Find us online at Rallye for a Cure, follow us on Facebook at Rallye for a Cure and Instagram at @RallyeforaCure
Exciting news! Our generous hosts, New Country BMW, will be providing everyone with a bag of snacks upon arrival! They thought it would be nice to treat everyone to a goody bag of items you can safely enjoy as breakfast or along the way if you need some extra “fuel” for the trip.
More exciting news! New Country BMW is also treating us to lunch at Lime Rock Park! We are forever grateful for their generosity.
We would also like to share with you some changes that have been planned to keep us all safe:

  • The Drivers’ & Navigators’ Meeting will be filmed and sent to you via email the day before the event.
  • An email featuring the auction items and logo items will be sent in advance and bidding will be done by email.
  • All participants are required to wear a mask upon arrival at New Country BMW, and we are requesting that everyone stay in/near their cars (New Country has assured us that their restrooms will be available to us, and masks must be worn in the dealership). Sorry— some tough love here— please do not congregate. We want to keep our Rallye family safe!
  • Upon arrival, participants will receive their snack bag and packet of rallye directions. The bags and packets will be made up ahead of time and we will be wearing gloves and masks when we hand them out to you.
  • As always, we ask that you bring your own clipboard and pen.
  • Driving the Rallye route and laps on the track will, of course, be in the safety of your own car!
  • Rallye answers will be compiled on one page, and participants should take a photo of their answers and send the photo, via text, to Linda. (If you don’t have a camera on your phone, no worries! We have a plan for that, too).
  • The Culinary Staff at Lime Rock Park will orchestrate the handing out of lunches. We are asking that you bring blankets and/or chairs and physically distance from one another during lunch time.
  • The Awards Ceremony will be held via Zoom at 7 pm the night of the Rallye. If you are unable to attend live, we will film it and post the link.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please send them along! We are trying to think ahead to limit interaction while having the same great time we always do!
Be well, and see you soon!
