Oil Coolers

Did the auto trans cars have a remote cooler? While digging through my alpine stash, I came across a cooler that has (2) 1' sections (one on top of the other) with the standard loopy wire fins and barb connections for 5/16 ID hose.

Are you saying it's the same size and length, and same fittings, as a Series V oil cooler, but with two rows? If so (and it's a big "if"), you've hit the jackpot. The double-row oil cooler was stock on the Mk II Tiger, and is very rare.

The auto transmission in the Alpine and other 4 cyl Rootes vehicles was air cooled. They had a couple of vents in the bell housing to let the air circulate around the torque converter to cool it. May hav also been a fan attached to the convertor.
