The leading edge of the front wheel arch can catch on the outside wheel as it turns into a corner on the sunbeams
Bill if the car is lowered and you go round a corner quickly the outside wheels front outer edge of the tyre can grab the guard... Been there... Done thatWhich is no big deal unless you are backing up.

Thanks for the feedback All! I'm still trying to decide if going from 13" to the 15" is worth it.
Numbers would be helpful. I, too, am trying to make the decision between 13" and 15" with a +2 tire to keep overall diameter close. I figure 3" of backspace is good, but don't know what a good offset number is. Also, how wide is too wide (195, 205, 215?). My Series 5 is lowered 2" and unrolled fender lips valance. Apologies offered for jumping in, but the OP struck a chord. Thanks.
