What are people using for the foam padding along the lower edge of the instrument panel. I believe the cover you get from the vendors is just the vinyl.

re foam

I just did mine. I used pipe insulation which is a closed cell dense foam then covered that with a 1/4"foam backed vinyl. The crash pad needs a dense foam otherwise say goodbye to your knee caps if you have a crash

I'm not sure how useful the foam in in a crash.. figure other things will get you too.. (depending on how big a hit)

As for the foam.. you can do as John suggests.. the SS one is cut to shape and ready, but that said.. its fatter/rounder than the originals.

when the vinyl is pulled tight over the foam and everything is glued the foam from SS is proper for the application. the foam has to be compressed tight to obtain the right profile.

I agree with 65beam. The SS foam is a "bit" larger when received, but perfect when the vinyl is pulled tight. :)
