it looks like the two VIN tags have different numbers. the French plate shows 9200279 and the other looks to be 9200247. the SAL tag is also in the wrong place as well as being for a later car. the body appears to be series 2 except the trunk area. neither of the VIN numbers would cover the trunk part of the car. what's the rest of the story?

I htink the car is a S3 with SII screen and B bost caps, seats + engine (or radiator at least). The body has S3 boot + suspension, rear guards and has S3 adjutsbale column. so likely a S3 cars missing parts and SII parts used to finish

It also has an adjustable steering wheel, later gauges, and tube shocks in back. Retrofitting the Series III body to fit the early, less upright windshield and hardtop makes sense, but pulling out the Microcell seats in favor of the early fixed-back seats? They must have fit the PO just right.
