ID plate on cowl

I know one of you guys knows the answer to this question. Neither of my Alpines had these plates on the cowl. There are four screws or rivets that hold it down. It probably says some thing about options the car came with. Do any of you guys have a picture of yours. I was thinking about making one and screwing it down to my cowl, but I need something to go off of. I could be way off and it says something else.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi John,

By memory, I think your Alpine was a fairly early one so I am sure someone will confirm my answer. The Alpines had three tags, the first being the SAL number, the second an Identification number (paint code, type, etc) and the third being the spec plate (oil spec, spark plug gap, etc). I would post a picture, but my Alpine does not reside at home (I only have the Tiger - does not have the spec plate).
As I said, if your Alpine is an early one it may slightly differ to the later series. The spec plate are still available from Sunbeam specialists.

Hope this helps,

Regards, Robin.
