How is the windshield washer pump housing Removed?

I am trying to remove the pump switch on a series V and all it seems to do is spin. I've searched the site but can't find an explanation, only that some people replace it with a temporary switch. Any help would be much appreciated.

You must first remove the black actuating knob - it unscrews counter-clockwise whilst holding the pump behind the dashboard. Then you'll see there's a nut down inside the cup that needs to be removed with a deep socket (or perhaps a pair of needle-nose pliers if it's already loose) - once that's off, you can withdraw the pump from the back of the dashboard.

There is a write-up on Tigers United about how to convert to an electrical system. Click the link below for more info.
