Full access to the UK's SAOC website has now been granted!

I am very happy to report that Diamond and Platinum SAOCA members now have full access to the SAOC's forum and website! Or at least, the potential access. I earlier sent them a list of 35 Diamond/Platinum members who had given me permission to share their addresses and learned this evening that access has been granted to the 7 of us who have already set up accounts on their forum. So, the other 28 Diamond/Platinum members just need to set up an account on the Club's forum, using the same email address as you sent to me, and you will then be given access, too.

And, for anyone else who hasn't pulled the plug on contributing or upgrading, now is the time! There is more to come!

Just an update: It appears as though our UK friends are matching emails as you sign up against the list I gave them. So all Diamond/Platinum members should have full access as soon as their accounts are activated. So, no need to alert me, unless you have problems.

Also, I just want to point out that their Members Only Archive is now labeled "SAOC & SAOCA Members Only” (my emphasis) which is very cool.

Color me stupid.
When I click on the link, I am taken to a page that says log in or register. Nothing about an account. I am not able to register or log in. Could you give me some step by step directions? Where am I supposed to enter my email address?

Bill,
I have had a user name and pass word on the U.K. site for years and for some reason I now have to log in everyday when I try to open up the site. It doesn't remember that I registered years ago. I never had to do this until the Trans Atlantic joint venture came into play. Not sure what Jim's version of "account" refers to. I wondered the same thing about the e mail address. Someone doesn't have their act together or they're picking up something concerning info from the SAOCA. Their latest news letter has been out but it doesn't seem to be available either. And while we're at it, we used to be able to access the Harrington site from this site but I haven't been able to do that or am I missing something or not seeing something??

I am not sure why you are having problems, Bob. I also set up my account years ago and the new process has been working fine for me and others I have heard from. I have stayed signed in and have had access to the full site ever since they updated our members' profiles. ("Account" may not be the right word, but "membership" isn't correct either.) I've gotten multiple reports of all going well, but the only other problem was a member who had trouble registering for the first time. Before I ask my contact there to look into the situation, I would like to know if this is widespread or not. Is anyone else having the same problems as Bob?

Thanks for the reminder about the latest newsletter. I will check with the club and be sure it hasn't fallen though the cracks.

"user profile" should be the right term.

I had already registered on the SAOC site prior to the SAOC - SAOCA sync-up. I did not have 'member-level' privileges previously. I did login yesterday afternoon and I checked the box to remain logged in at that time. I have come back to the site multiple times and I am not challenged to login again.

The SAOC site created a persistent browser cookie - SMFCookie939. I verified that persistent cookie is used to provide access to the site without logging in again. Your browser settings will need to allow the creation of the persistent cookie.

Did you notice it says you're logged in for 1440 minutes? You don't have to log in again? The problem may be my PC.

Yes. I assume the 'Minutes to stay logged in:' value does not apply when the 'always stay logged in' box is checked. The SMFCookie939 persistent browser cookie has an expiration date in 2024.

What browser and OS are you using?

Signed in and registered with no problems. Once you do so, post under the Introduce Yourself area and maybe include a photo of your car!

The latest issue of the Horn has now been posted for Diamond and Platinum members. I’ve only skimmed it, but it looks like a good one!

Registration submitted and waiting on received the "admin approval" e-mail in about 10 minutes. Was able to log-in with no problem.

Note that the log-in is based on the user name rather than the e-mail address.
