Does a 1/2 inch matter?

Old brake master cylinder with spacer was 2 1/4 inches from the firewall, the new one 2 3/4 inches. Do I need to figure out another rod to gain back that 1/2 inch?

Maybe it's a silly question, but does the spacer on the old brake master fit on the new brake master? It looks like it is about a 1/2" spacer.

Most adapt the spacer and make a custom adjustable rod. Wilwood has a nice one. Also you need a little wiggle room at the master (pedal freeplay) so it will release and not operate until you push the pedal.

As I was typing the post, I paused ran out to the garage and checked with the spacer and it is spot on. I thought, good thing I didn’t post that question, I’d look like a real novice.

Guess I did (red face).

Does it look like the spacer will not interfere with the rubber boot seal (once that seal is installed)?

It does not, it clears nicely. I did have to re drill the bottom hole, it was a few thousandths different.
