Unpainted and unpolished. As cast. If yours is a little corroded then a light rub with a fine wire wool will be OK. It will put a light shine on it but that will oxidize down in time. You can dip it in a dilute corrosive to remove any unwanted shine if you want to. Most don't bother but I have a strong aversion to things being shiny when they should not;-)
