I still have my old slot cars. My older brother & I built these back in 1965. We also built a small race course in our basement and we had a drag strip track that we made too. It was very popular in this area. There were 2 or 3 large businesses that had large tracks to run on. It was great!

You have a Cheetah!

I saw one at an USRRC race in Seattle when I was a kid and last year a couple of guys brought one out to our SOVREN Historics. It had problems and didn't run much. Too bad, would have loved to see it again!

Jim,

My cars are 1/32 which has become fairly popular. The best "ready to run" cars... at least a couple of years ago, were the Fly Slot cars.

Fly cars were great. Fast and reliable... increadibly well detailed and durable as can be. We gave the director or the design program at work a Scalextrix set which we setup in the "prototype" model storage room. He is a F1 fan so in the late afternoons we would occasionally race.

If you get a set find a timer that goes to hundreth of a second if you can.

Another beautiful slot car is sold by "Slot Car Classico". It is is a spanish company, I think. Increadibly detail. I don't know if they are fast but they are so beautiful I would think you'd hate to run them.
