Alpine original Tyres

After an observation by Series3Scott I decided to check out the rubber on my 1964 Alpine 1V GT....well it transpired that the Michelins on it were not origional but had been fitted in 1984 !

Anyway these tyres are to old for safe driving so and I have decieded to put on the original factory spec tyres...6.00x13 whitewall Cross-plys.

Unfortuantly the original Dunlops with the 1" whitewall are no longer in production...so after a lot of searching I am having to import them from the USA.

They are BF Goodrich 600X13 with 1" whitewall...that's the good news.

And the bad news...just over $1000 for the five ! So thanks Scott !

You're very wise to replace those tires: I had tires from 1982 on my car when I first got it on the road. I had 3 of 4 suddenly go "bad"- even though they looked great. No rot or anything- they just stopped functioning. I read on this forum later that you really can't trust tires more than just a few years, regardless of appearance.

$1000.00? WOW! That's pricey. But they ought to look great, much more authentic than the typical off-the-shelf tire.

I mean, "tyre.":)
