Alpine Engine Block ID

    Can anyone help me positively identify this Alpine engine block? There is no serial number in the expected place.

    Looks like a 1725 block, cast on May 30, 1967. It says 1724, because that's the actual displacement, but have always been called a 1725.

    Others may have more details.

    No serial number = Dealer replacement. Probably a short block.
