I have a Sunbeam Alpine that has a '90 S10 V6; w/T5 transmission; MG rack & pinion and Toyota steering column and wheel; Aluminum radiator; solid body with good sheet metal; Stripped down interior w/miata seats; FI engine system and new fuel tank; good tires and steel wheels; like new soft top; new battery; conversion work a bit rough and needs finishing.

Engine fires up nicely, good oil pressure!

Have pictures! Will provide good title!

Asking $4000.00 Will sell body and rolling chassis without engine/transmission and fuel tank $2500.00

It is a Chevy V6 from a '90 S10, Not the first to do this! As a matter-O-Fact I did not do this one! A good friend did and had to drop the completion due to a job change and relocation recently.

I think I know of another member doing one.

It is very similar to the Ford V6 60 degree engine fits about the same? If it does not sell, I will probably take the engine and T5 and install in my Volvo P1800. That is one of the reason I said I would sell the body "rolling" without the engine, tranny and fuel tank.

Man I have a plate full:) Keeps me slim and trim too!

I may even throw in a "90 Camaro 2.8 V6 with the auto OD tranny. It has everything from the fan to the tail shaft, engine fuel system, A/C compressor, starter, wiring etc. It was removed from a car intact, every thing needed to go back..... was planning to rebuild and install in the Volvo Coupe.....

Joel, DO you suppose you could get any info on the car, contact info and some PIC's ?
Dan, I can't help you out there I can't even remember the guys name. Essex Mass is all I can recall the guy joined TE/AE but I can't come up with any info I met another guy when I was picking up the Tiger who had a Tiger also that was from around there but that doesn't help either also Eric had a Chevy powered roller I think that I saw way back in the stone age when I went to look at some stuff there.

Thank you for trying to remember about the car. Your mention of Eric having a chevy roller way back when reminds me of it also. I believe it may be long gone by now.

I will ask him! Barry is also doing one (?) Or at least I think it is Chevy powered.

As with all Series Alpine V6 engine swaps, the main (certainly not the only) issue is lack of clearance between the exhaust system and the steering system.

All of the GM 60-degree OHV V6 engines (2.8 / 3.0 / 3.1 / 3.4 / 3.5 / 3.9) are almost exactly the same external size as the Ford 60-degee OHV 4.0 V6 engine. You have demonstrated that the Ford OHV 4.0 will fit with the right headers, so ..... As with your headers for the Ford 4.0, some TIGHT bends are required to avoid the Series Alpine steering system.

A major advantage of the GM 60-degree V6 engines is the availability of factory aluminum heads (much lighter) with splayed valves which make a lot of power (200 HP in stock form for the 3.5 LX9 and 240 HP stock for the 3.9 LZ9). As with the Ford 4.0, the GM 3.5 and 3.9 aluminum head (FWD) engines are EFI only; there was never a factory manifold for a carburetor.
