This Sunbeam has been restored mechanically and cosmetically by the seller about 18 years ago. The car was a rotisserie restoration, and before performing any body work the car had a coat of undercoating applied to the underside. While the car was being prepped for paint the fuel tanks were boiled out and sealed, and the bumpers were straightened and rechromed. Once the paint was stripped it was then painted a magnificent Mercedes yellow. The interior is insulted from the kick panels back to the trunk. A red interior pairs well with the color, and chrome accents were added to bring it all together, rolling on 13” Panasport wheels.
Being an older restoration, the car has only 5000 miles on its Series V 1725cc engine (since restoration). The car is backed by a 4 speed, Series V synchromesh manual transmission. Modifications done to the engine are an upgraded camshaft and a ported head with a Weber two- barrel intake. It sounds admirable at idle with its lopey cam and Monza exhaust tip, with car enthusiasts saying, “Not bad, for a 4-cylinder”. Also, a recently rebuilt (2018) series V front suspension.
The 1963 Alpine GT comes with a hardtop, which is fashioned with a cloth to match the interior color. A chrome roll bar was added to the interior and air conditioning was added upon the initial restoration making it a fair-weather car and an excellent driver. This car is located in central California.
