The Series II Alpine that recently sold at an auction may soon be up for sale again. The winning bidder evidently suffered a severe case of 'buyer's remorse' and stopped payment on the check to the auction company. When threatened with legal action for non-payment the buyer sent a second check and is in possession of the car.
The winning bidder, a retired banker from Minnesota, has indicated he will put the car up for sale in hopes of recovering part or all of his "investment".
