Enjoyed the sound of the cars on the track going by. What a difference between 1950 and 2013.
Anyone know what RPM they were spinning in 1950?

Wikipedia says the 251.92 cu in produced about 420 hp @6600. That seems to be fairly constant for the engine during the 50's and 60's. Probably limited by the long (4 3/8") stroke. I remember the big to do about the short stroke engine introduced in the late 50's. It was destroked by about a tenth of an inch or so.

The turbo version ran up to 9 grand.

Lots of vibes!
