The "proper" wheel offset depends on a lot of factors. What wheel diameter? What wheel width? What size tires? What suspension modifications? What ride height? What body modifications? Do you want to keep the wheels and tires under the fenders?

Posi,

And, whether the wheels under discussion are wire or steel disk wheels.

Or, if you've noticed the apparent difference between the front and rear track widths.

In the case of Alpines, it's probably better to be aware the backspace measurement to be the more critical measurement, due to component design.

What would you like to accomplish with the offset information?

Here is why I am asking:

OK

If those wheels were mounted on a Tiger and ran with NO ISSUES, they'll almost certainly be fine on an Alpine.

It doesn't help that the label mis-states the back space of four inches as the offset. Four inches is close to the max for backspace. When installed - check the clearance between the edge of the upper A-arm to rim or tire.

Backspace is measured from rear, outer edge of rim to wheel hub mounting surface - a direct measurement. No calculation required.

Hope this helps,

FWIW, the maximum backspace for 14" wheels on the front of a Series Alpine is about 4-1/2".

I suspect that the next question will be "why do my front wheels / tires stick out beyond the fenders and rub on the lower valence?"
