Been thinking 'bout pulling da' head on my 67' rescue and while it's off doing da' Viz mod to it....what's the thought on indexing the plugs ?? ... Worked well on my Mopar Stage 3 heads ... not sure on these? .. though that was in the day of leaded petrol and 11:1 comp. .... min.

My experience is that the Vizard mod is worthwhile. I had not previously known about "indexing", so I looked it up. Pretty simple where you select a plug that fits a cylinder such that when fully inserted and tightened, the ground lug is oriented pretty much on the side away from the valves, making the "open" side of the plug pretty much facing the valves. Sounds pretty simple and I'd guess the odds are you could achieve the desired orientation on all 4 cylinders with maybe 8 plugs to choose from, assuming any alignment within +/- 30 deg from perfect is good enough. I'd guess you could even come close just selecting from 4 plugs.

For more on indexing see this:

indexing plugs

A friend of mine did that for his race boat. He used a fine sharpie felt pen to mark the electrodes he added washers as needed to have them all lined up
seemed to work out for him

The idea of using washers as shims seemed to me obvious, but the articles I read did not suggest that. Good to see others have tried with success.

Lots of.. if not most racers do it. I read about it and started doing it on my race engines back in the early 80's. I probably read in Hot Rod magazine about some SuperStock racer looking for any edge he could find under their very limiting rules. I'd love to see dyno results documenting the benefits.

Stacking washers isn't the right way to go tho. use these: http://www.jegs.com/i/Moroso/710/71900/10002/-1 or these: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Products/555/40355/10002/-1

I'v gone thru as many as 3 sets of plugs trying to do it the old fashioned way as TomH suggests. It's VERY hit and miss.
