Vinyl Convertible Top Boot

Hello, new member with a question. I've been lurking around here for awhile now and been able to search and get an answer to any question I've had up to now. I'm assembling a 1966 Tiger Mark 1a, I am installing the convertible top boot and have the rear attached to the little triangular tabs but can not figure out how to attach the side wings to the inside bulkhead. I'm sure I'm missing something easy but need help. TIA for any help you can offer.

I'm not exactly sure what you are installing, but maybe some of the information in this thread is relevant?

Thanks for the link but its not helping for what I need right now, but I will save for the future. I'm still new the the Tiger so I'm sure that I didn't explain it clearly enough.

Here are a couple of pictures that hopefully you be able to see what I'm working on.

I hope this clears up my question.

Does these photos of an original soft top cover help? If you want it, I will send this to you for the cost of shipping and a beer when we meet in person. :)

Thanks, but I'm not needing a cover. I appreciate the offer though. What I'm trying to find out is how the inside of the side pieces attach to the body. There is a couple of the piercing triangles at the zipper, but I don't see how the attach it the rest of the way. There are no holes in the body there, that look like anything was attached. I can use pop rivets but I'd like to attach it correctly if I can.

Please look at the attached files. I think the attachment is made by part 383/1. The Alpine/Tiger parts manual is online and a great resource. Tom

Thanks all, I finally spoke with someone that I could make understand what I was asking. It’s now installed and I can move on. Thanks again.

How does one use those 383/1 clips to attach the soft top cover to the tub?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike
The clips 383/1 are for the soft top not the soft top cover
The description says plastic hood I've not seen the soft top refered to as plastic usually vinyl or vynide
The clips are metal
They are on the inner sides clipped along the channel. On the bottom off the soft top in the wheel well drain area 3 per side
Hopefully the photos help
Paul

I'm aware of the triangle shaped spikes for attaching the soft top cover to a majority of the tub. I'm still wondering how the ends of the soft top cover are attached.

Thanks,
Mike

Not sure if it’s correct, but after talking with a gentleman that’s been restoring these cars for awhile I followed his advise. I both glued and pop riveted it.

Interesting. I'm not seeing evidence of holes in that section of my cover in a photo I took, but I should get the cover out of storage and take a closer look.

Thanks!
Mike

It has been a long time. I do know that it was sandwiched between the interior roll and the metal piece. Whatever holds that roll onto the metal piece hold on the side vinyl. My recollection is those triangle spikes are there too. I'd check, but now my S3 is a GT and my Tiger is a Mk1 with metal doors.

Here is a picture I found online of that area. It shows those long raised sections for the clips to fit into. And I put in a picture of the clips. The odd thing is that it looks to me like the side piece is shorter than the spot for the clips. For whatever reason, I have three of these in my garage right now. And none of them show any sign of glue or rivet holes or anything that would have bonded to the roll.

And here is a picture of those clips:

Oh, the rear seat sides actually fit under the roll, maybe the side pieces even had a cut out for the clip spots. Maybe the side top covers were some how attached to those rear seat side pieces.
