v 6 clutch help

I am putting an 84 Bronco 2.8 V 6 in my series 1 Alpine. DanR was such a help and I miss his advice. I have all the parts from him (mounts, headers, brackets and thermostat housing) and I had talked to him about clutch issues but I can't find my notes. The Bronco engine has the correct sump and I have the timing cover I need. It is my understanding the Bronco flywheel uses an 8.5 inch clutch and the Mutt 11 used a 9.5. From searching the forums I see that the LUC-07-030 disc may work. It has the correct splines for the T-5 transmission and is the correct diameter. Do I then use the pressure plate from the standard Bronco application or is there some other combo that I need. I plan to use an internal slave cylinder throw out bearing. I have the pilot bushing from Dan. I can't be the only one who has done this and maybe I just don't know how to search the data base. Any help is appreciated. Gary

Dan recommended the Mustang II flywheel and clutch. I don't see why you couldn't use the 2.3 four cylinder Mustang II, 79-83 Fox Mustang and Capri 8.5" disk which as the right splines and diameter with the Brono II pressure plate.

Thanks, I looked for the Mutt ll flywheel for a long time and couldn't find one even with Dans help. He kept saying someone was going to reproduce one and then I bought this Bronco engine and flywheel. He suggested having a custom disc made and recommended a company but there has to be a simpler answer. Maybe this is it. Thanks. Gary

Maybe it had more to do with the number of splines, rather than diameter.

This was on Dan’s conversion site ( danr.mhartman.net/documentation-on-converting-your-alpine-with-a-2-8-v6-ford-engine ):

PRESSURE PLATE: Mustang II part number is D4ZA 7563. Team Blitz has been a good source. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Capri-Pressure-Plate-Cologne-V6-4-Speed-5-Speed/280602800438

Note: Modern Driveline Boise, ID is now planning to provide Pressure plates/Disc/and Flywheels for our V6’s. Ask for Paul

Mike, All the above is for the Mustang II flywheel. The Bronco II flywheel he has is for an 8.5 clutch set and Mustang II is 9.5.

The 8.5" will work fine. It moves the Bronco around and its significantly heavier. 8.5" disc is roughly 220mm. I run a 220mm disk in an offroad buggy with 330hp. It does have a heavy duty pressure plate.
You may want to look at the pressure plates. If the Bronco has an improved design pressure plate I'd look at that.
