Traction Rods

Hi, Does anyone have measurements of the rear traction/tramp rods & photos. I cant find any info on these. I want to make a set. Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Mike

These will prevent spring "wrap" as well as wheel hop?
One and the same.

The rear axle hop (bounce" comes from the springs loading and rotating the diff forward and down.. this deflects the leaf springs and they compress until they hot the point to wind back and then you get the "hop'..

Traction masters pin the deflection to a point before they can recoil. However they stiffen ride by limiting spring movement.

A torque arm bolts to the diff...it limits the diff rotation and stop the axle hop but doesn't change ride quality..

If you can get your hands on one of Dan Walters torque arms, DO IT.
I have one and it lightswitched the axle hop to off. I love it.
He said on this forum he is out of the business of making them, so finding one won't be easy.
A much superior product to the Traction masters.

Guy’s, thanks for your replies. I’m in Brisbane, Australia, so I will have to try and make a set myself. Would anyone have any pics showing how they are located and measurements of the rods themselves and how they are connected to the front or rear springs. I can figure out the plates to the U bolts. Cheers.

Some of the guys in the QLD sunbeam club have them fitted... Id pay a visit to a fellow owner .. be the best thing.

Its a halo that attaches to the rear cover bolts. The nose of it has a ring that goes around the snout of the pumpkin.
There is a V shaped tubular structure that mounts through a rubber bushing under the trans mount. V arm has heim joints to get every thing aligned.

I think he means the traction bars, but he would be better off with a torque arm.

@Michael Jazowy I know a guy in Melbourne who might be able to build you a torque arm. He built one a few years back based on Dan's design but with upgrades hardware, Heim joints

Here is a link to the LAT 6 Bolt on bars.

WITH dimensions.

Here are some Torque Arm pictures.

The Main goals of the Torque Arm are

eliminate wheel Hop WITHOUT adding

any rear roll stiffness AND not screw up

the ride quality.

Note, there are 3 generations of Torque Arms.

The changes are Bigger and BIGGER rubber for the front

mount to improve the ride.

Quotes from the Doctor....
" Friends don't let friends use panhard bars." My car seems less twitchy and the ride has improved over the slapper bars, I'll have to consult the Doctor as to which version I have....
The best ride change was tires with sidewalls ...
