The Journey Begins - Series I V6 Restomod

Working on the window issue…SI’s didn’t have the cantrail pieces so there isn’t much to work with there...in reality, for this car, the top only has to be secure enough to get the car home if it rains…this particular car won’t ever be more than a few miles from home (or a trailer)…I’ve been doing car builds for quite a while and, to date, I still have a couple that have never been wet…other than a wash…:)
Bill yes, I have a SI without cantrails , but the tops have a C section profile with a shallower area on the outer for the window to sit into to seal ( it also helps stop the windows from leaning out at speed) the top also extends a little past the B pillar pivot to so that the top engages the full window profile.

Have you sealed the top on the sides to the body?

We'll likely affix the sides to the body with a removeable snap to maintain tension but also allow the top to fold up...again, remember this top is more for looks than function...in the rare event that it starts raining on my way home from the grocery store, it just needs to keep the majority of the insides dry for a bit. :)

Nothing here to envy DanR...in the time that it's taken me just to get the upholstery done on my project you've done a complete build with your 4.0 project!

Very nice on both the console and the door cards. I like how you integrated the A/C vents too. Can you share the details on what you did for the glove box latch? I have the same dash and have not figured out what kind of latch to use.

In our asymptotic approach to completing this project, the seats are now done...just a few more little details to finish up (like waiting for the cupholders to arrive...you never would have heard that in 1960!) and then it will be out of the upholstery shop. For those who are curious, the seats came from a Mazda Miata and then were cut down a tad to make them look a little more period correct. Not sure yet if I like the seat belts we have chosen...may do something different...we purposely didn't add shoulder belts as we couldn't figure out a way to mount them that either looked good or would work well. Still quite a few items to finish after that...fitting the hood, installing the exhaust, front end alignment, some miscellaneous wiring, etc....headed toward the goal of debuting the car at the Boise Roadster Show in March

I really like that steering wheel:)
yeah DanR, it’s a special custom design…actually it’s a very nice wood wheel that I’ve just been trying to protect if until everything was done…probably would have been better to find a spare one somewhere and use it until I was ready for the nice one…one of those little things that I never got around to!

Bill, I bet if the viewers at the Boise Roadster Show are honest they will pick yours as most Beautiful. You have created a very nice V6 Alpine.
