I would like to get a S1 tach ,face and needle, (wight face and needle )to convert my S4 tach to look like a S1 tach . A broken tach would be great even the glass can be broken. I do not want to destroy my good S1 tach, I hope to use it some day . I would like to find a head light with a try bar in it , I have one, conplet one . I have the try bar but no lens or housing for it . thanks for any help Paul

Paul, The SI tach has the lamps for turn signal and ignition (?) right? Do you plan to install the lamps in the S4 Tach? There is probably not room to do this easily. Also the mounting screws for the dial face are in different locations. Lastly, the dial calibration (hash mark spacing) is probably different.

I would be easy to just paint the SV tach needle white. Does that not make a good match?

If you do make the conversion including the lamps, I'd like to see how you do it.

I have one that I took out of my car. It looks like there was a short that caused some damage to the lights. The face and such was still OK. It is yours for the price of shipping. I can send/ post pictures if you would like.

Tom with your experience would it be possible to mount the guts from S5 to an S1 tach.Just wondering

Chuck,

I'm not sure I understand your question. But I am guessing that you are asking about turning a SI tach into an electronic one, keeping the same dial face and indicator lamps. Is that the point?

If so, I have thought about it and looked into it a year ago. I can't rememebr right now how I thought it could be done. If you want I'll look into it again.

tach. head lights

Paul,
Are trying to make an older mechanical tachometer work with a 1725 engine? If so then all you have to do is mill 1/4 inch or so off the base of a mechanical drive distributor and bolt it to your 1725 engine. I run an original SII tach in my SII with a 1725 engine. Mechanical drive tachs never seem to die or jump all over the place. Some will say pooh pooh the flange is now to thin but mine has worked perfectly for the last 99,000 plus miles...I have what you need if can can explain what it is you want.
