T5 to Late series 2.8 V6 Ranger /Bronco II Bellhousing Adapter available

If you are aware of some items such as the bellhousings (BH) needed for converting an Alpine 4cyl to the FORD 2.8 V6 (Cologne) Engine, you may know there is often times where the Bellhousing Mutt II is difficult to obtain.

While tthe Mutt II bellhousing has been the mainstay in the Conversion, I have now "fixed" that problem with an adapter plate to the late series 2.8 V6's (Ranger/Bronco II BH's).
In addition to that nice little change, the stock internal hyd release bearing and slave can be utilized for many trouble free miles.

The adapter plate (powder coated) black will sell for $100 + shipping.

Dan, which bell housing is being bolted onto the T5? Is it the housing for the automatic? I ask because the Ranger (don't know about Bronco) manual tranny has a one piece trans/bell housing casting.

Now you are putting a huge task on my mind! It is a manual bellhousing that looks alot like the Mutt II only it has the internal release bearing and a hyd slave cylinder. Could I be mistaken and it be a 2.9 V6 bellhousing? I have several different engines/transmissions and bellhousings. I must go take a better look,

I believe that all of the Mitsubishi transmissions (4 speed and 5 speed) have the same bell housing. I have a vague memory of swapping from 4 speed to 5 speed (bell housing and transmission) and something was different. Not in a major way, just had to buy the new version of an old part.

Bill, Here's a couple PIC's of the transmission and bellhousing.

I removed the bellhousing a year or so ago and took the bellhousing to my Laser Buddy for an adapter. Unfortunately it too a while for the adapter to be fabricated.

As usual several of my projects have taken longer than I wanted. This adapter was in the making for several years like the T5 to Alpine bellhousing.

I know for sure this bellhousing with these numbers embeded: (E47A-7505-EA) was removed from this transmission which the label reads as: (FORD Transmission Assy E47A7003E Build Code 014943- (missing number or numbers). It is thought to be from a Ranger or Bronco II. It has the release bearing and a slave cylinder that fits into a hole in the bellhousing. The slave pushes a lever to engage the bearing.

If perchance the bellhousing and the transmission is not 2.8, the next possible is a 2.9 V6.....

I have searched the ranger forum and other places but can not find any reference to the numbers on the tranny or bellhousing. Help will be greatly appreciated in their identification

Hi Dan
That looks like the bellhousing I use it came from a 84 Ranger / Bronco it uses a external slave cylinder (that is still avalible but the line that goes to it is not You can make an adapter from it and use brake line that is what I did uses the same through out bearing as the 4 cylinder I made a adapter plate back in the early 80 ,s for a 5.0 liter t5 to the bell .

Dan, Thanks for that comment about you using the Ranger/Bronco II bellhousing.

From some comment on this Thread, I was about to think I am crazy. The transmission and bellhousing are separable as I have demostrated. I just could not remember or prove what their identy was, now that you have confirmed I am pleased.

Can you tell me the clutch disc and pressure plate you utilized?

THANKS!!!!!

Dan I used a webber disc and pressure plate for a mustang II I will have to look for the box its been a while a LONG while since I installed it interior is going in next week and I will send pics then OH retirement every thing gets in the way
Dan

Hi Dan
Found the box #360031 Weber performance Ca. but did a google search and I think it is out of business
Dan

Dan, The 2.9 Mitsubishi bellhousing is ribbed on top back side. Yours may be a Toyo Kyogo 4 or 5 speed 83-86 2.8 bellhousing. It may be ribbed also.

Thanks for that breakdown, Jim. My transmission is one of these three.

The code on the side of mine has: E47A 7003 E_ I can't figure whether it should be an "A" or "B" or "C" I believe it is more like "C" . Then down under that label it has: Build Code 014943
E47A 7003 EAToyo-Kogyo TK5
E47A 7003 EBToyo-Kogyo TK5
E47A 7003 ECToyo-Kogyo TK5

Those are the most common bellhousings. You could probably make an adapter for the Mitsubishi bell housing too if you had one to compare. The TK4 and 5 were the weakest transmissions so the Ranger/Bronco II guys should be receptive to your adapters too.
