What are you guys using for a shifter boot on your Conversion. Most of the usual auto parts stores have a couple. Did you come across one that fir well? Any pics? Thanks

Hi Mike,

Are you going use an after market shifter? (I highly recommend using one) If you get a Pro 5.0 or a Hurst shifter, they will come with a boot. They also have shift stops to keep from damaging your transmission on a hard shift.

Hi Jose.

I'm using the stock shifter (I drive like an old lady :) ). I cut most of the threads off and ended up with a comfortable height. Just looking for a boot to tidy up around where the shifter comes out of the tunnel.

I made one from a piece of Leatherette. Easy.

I used an MGB ring to hold it to tunnel.

Just from a two sided triangle with two sides, outside in. I simply used a stapler to sew one side. turn it inside out. Turn the top in and Voila!

Thanks guys.

Kinda like that MGB boot. I'll make the round trip to the usual auto parts stores tomorrow and see what's on the shelves.

Mike, Mr. Gasket has a universal one that looks like the Tiger boot. Which was originally for a Ford Galaxie top loader 4 speed. Looks a lot like the MGB but round chrome plate.

I am pretty sure this is the one I bought a few years ago when I wanted to have something more substantial in my SV than the stock arrangement. (I could never get the repro boot I had to stay in place.)n The trim ring is very flimsy and deformed quite a bit when I tried to screw it through the carpet into the tunnel. I ended up buying a used MG ring and boot and have been very happy with that, although drilling the back screw was pretty challenging, as I recall.
