Driveshaft markings

Changed the rear seal in the automatic trans, noticed the drive shaft had paint markings. While that was out greased the u joints which had set screws for plugs.Pulled them and bought an attachment for the grease gun, joints were dry. Is there a reproduction of the S/N tag and info tag for Hillman?

Thanks for the updates. Your car is so original just keep those plates (that still have the original rivets) patina is a good thing! Eric

Frank Schoenberg got the LH vent rubber to me for the SM. Will need to rework it a bit but it is the last one he could supply. Still looking for a padded dash that isn't cracked. May have to repair the one I got when the windscreen rubber gets changed.

Sunday was the BCFD. Show in. Sussex Wisc. Only Dave Lefever and I were there holding up the Sunbeam marque. Warm temps might have been the reason 90-93. Dave didn't participate in the popular vote but got 2nd place with his Tiger. The Superminx Estate was quite popular. Dave was organizing british car display for the Milwaukee masterpiece in 2019. Got an invite! Good time had with plenty of shade.

Yes it is, first seen it at the Dayton United, George had a for sale sign in it. Took about two years to come to a deal. He only put 300 miles on it since 2001. Still have to do some detailing but it shows well the way it is.

Thanks George! The Superminx in Washington looks like a good resto or parts. Transport would run as much as the asking price. Looks like it has a good padded dash, will have to see if its the same as a series IV SM. May have to negotiate.

Well finally got the vent window rubber from Frank Schoenberger installed. Went well after figuring out how things came apart, thanks to Mike Flanery for copying the manual and posting in Rootes FB page. Decided to rebuild all the doors since finding the insulation had come off and accordioned to the bottom. All needed the winders and locks lubed. Passenger rear door panel needed rebuilding since the board had disintegrated 1/4 of the way up. Mirrored the opposite drivers rear for a pattern on 1/8" press board. Found a pc of newspaper in that door which might have been from the factory. Would have been nice to find a build sheet instead. Surprised it lasted 51 yrs. Trouble loading pics.

Had to put the paper between 2 pcs of plexiglas to photo. The doors had a coated paper glued between the panel and the door. No plastic like Alpine/Tiger.

How many body parts cross over on an MK III 66/65 to a MKI 63 Super Minx Estate? Red is the 63. Looks like most body parts are the same.

Only the front doors and roof are different by memory , I had one of each in the eighties I loved my Super Minx wagon but I surfed and windsurfed and the salt water eventually ate the car, yours is an absolute beauty also the same colour as mine was cheers Andy

Got back from Brandon MB with the Mk 1 Superminx estate. 3 day 1500 miles trip with Barb as co-pilot and tested the border crossing with no problem ether way. Ready for The United in a couple of weeks! A big thanks to Ron Stein for the lead on Joe’s Estate. Very solid parts car that has been sitting in the same spot since the 80’s as Joe put it before the internet. Only spot I found was in the rocker at the rear about the size of 1/2 dollar. Normal sun bleach damage and some rodent infestation. Well worth the adventure with a stop at the center of North America in Rugby. Now I have hood, hinges & springs that I-need.AlF6553A10-2FF1-4B52-815F-8D6172694985.jpeg

Noticed that there is a air controller below the glove on the RH side. Was that on the early 1962 Mk1 Super Minx? Not one on the 1967 Mk III.772BE1BB-AC89-4775-86AD-5D5ADB2235C9.jpeg

After Covid & restricted travel to Canada the SM hood is finally done and back on ready for action. New hood hinges work great didn’t know how bad they were. Thanks to Randy for getting it done before the Sussex British field days.
