So I took the rivit out to install the repair kit without knowing about the spring coming out. Can’t find it in the dirty body shop so I will try to get one from the hardware store. Just wondering how long or stiff it is supposed to be??

The simple answer is not to long and not to stiff
Spring from a ball point pen cut down might work
The more important part is the copper saddle that makes contact and completes the circuit I hope you didn't lose that
