Series IV air vents

Car sat about 40 years till I got it. PO bypassed the water valve and blocked the air vents with a panel covering the vent. Opening the cover shows an oval opening that looks factory (Both sides}. I'm not familiar with the later series, Where does the opening go, and what do I need?
The inside picture shows the openings open to the cab and a lot of major rust repair.

Those go into the vent boxes. They were only on SV, not SIV. Do you have the dash panel with the vent knobs?

Agree with Steve. The SV was the only Series Alpine with the footwell vents so this had to be some sort of sloppy cobbling of parts.

Is it possible that IV Is so late in production that it crossed over into V parts?

Well, I have a late SIV that has square cornered doors and hood along with exposed seams on the front fenders.
Lots of SV crossover, but it does not have vents.

The "cross body" SIV and MKI Tiger were a distinct group of cars. In both Tiger and Alpine they never has the footwell vents.. the early SV and MKIa still have the round boot lid ..but they gained the footwell vents and the vinyl soft top enclosure...neither of these appears on any SIV/MKI cars

If you decide to utilize the SV-specific apertures, I have all the parts you'll need to use them: scuttle screens, fresh air boxes, drain tubes, 2X vent control rods and lower dash roll to support the rods. If a PO actually had theses set up before, there would have been 2 additional holes near the top of the transmission tunnel for the water drain tubes. If not, you'll need to put them there. And with any luck, you may already have the lower dash roll with the rod support brackets, and they'll be easy to spot if you look.

I have a very early SIV and had a SV with the air vents rotting out a good chunk of the car, so my opinion of them is pretty low. Just wasn't sure what was and wasn't 'crossed over' from Series to Series.

When I read the OP, the first thought that came to mind was that it was a early SV.

It's fun stuff to think about.

As for all that rot? I'd get it back on the road, whatever that entails. No Rootes car that can be saved should be allowed to die.

STRANGE - The title matches the vin on the engine (B94067492 built 6/22-6/26 Series IV). Vin plate questionable and no vin number found on the firewall. The knee roll is like my Series II (no vent rods), but the transmission has 3 holes. The PO blocked all air intakes and bypassed and removed the water valve. I do have a knee roll with vent rods given to me about 8 years ago, but no vent boxes.
The license plate and window sticker both show 1985, so who knows what it is. The only thing noticeably changed is the drivers front fender.

I think that part of your car is Series V. Over the years all manner of changes have been made to these cars!
As for being 'too far gone' I disagree, it looks totally saveable (although maybe not economically sensible!) On my own car we had to make new A posts, new scuttle and numerous other panels that are simply not available but it got the old girl back from the brink and she even won a prize!
