Series II - Various Questions

Various Questions to all you Experts:
- Anyone in the Southern California area who knows these cars (as I clearly don't).
Would love for someone to help advise me on the motor build external goods - water pipes, distributor, carbs - stuff like that.
- Anyone recommended to rebuild the Distributor (& return it from Pertronix to Points)?
- Anyone recommended to rebuild the pair of Zenith Carbs (though I guess I can go through them)?

The Install of the Motor / Trans. into the car:
- I'm inclined to bolt on the Intake Manifold on the engine stand....but I guess it needs to be bolted on WITH the Headers; yea?
- It is recommended to install the motor WITH or WITHOUT those items on the block?

Thank you!

The carbs are likely to need more than just gaskets... Speak with @bernd_st about them and parts.

Much easier and safer install the motor work bonnet off... Radiator out, gearbox on but gear stick off.... have the starter on.. install the headers and manifold after you are in.

Buy a balance bar for the engine install....makes it a lot easier.

Bonnet is off, Radiator is out, Gear Stick will be off, Starter on (Great Note!), Headers & Manifold off (Great Note!)
Have a new Balance Bar ready.
Is Bernd_st in Germany?
Thank you for the reply!

Yes Bernd is in DE ...but he can supply the parts and advice to properly rebuild the Zeniths

Yes, here I am. If any parts are needed for your Zenith's let me know. I'm not doing any gasket or rebuild kits however. But there are good companies in UK providing those (Burlen fuel Systems or such). Can ship to US if needed.

OK great....
I have rebuild kits.
Just need to determine if I want to tackle myself or not.
Thanks!

Good starting point. However on most Zeniths the throttle spindles are worn. Those are not part of any rebuild kit. Can do if you need 'em...

Here's a picture of where to pick the engine up to install/remove. The balance point is over the Sunbeam name on the valve cover.

Ah...understood. Is there anyone I can have rebuild them here in the States? Or are you suggesting I send them to you? if so, what is that cost?
Thanks!

No sorry, I don't offer any rebuild services just advice or certain bits. There should be capable companies in US however, but can't make any dedicated recommendation. Perhaps others can chime in here.

P.S. We have 2 companies over here in Germany, but rather costly nowadays to a get pair of Zeniths overhauled (~1000€ plus)...
