Where can I get my series I tach and speedometer repaired / cleaned? Both interments are mechanical interments.

Sorry John and Dan, my expertise is electrical, electronic stuff. I repaired my own speedo but it was a lot of work. And the SI tach is mechanical, same issues as the speedo.

Sorry too that I did not read the mechanical aspect clearly....

Thanks for the clarification Tom!

P.S. Tom, I need a SV tach changed to work for the V6. Can you get it done in the next month and a half?

Nisonger? (spelling) in NY not cheap but very good at gauges. Used them for my tiger speedo, excellent work.

John,

If you want someone else to do the work, many people on the forum have vouched for Nisonger (nisonger.com), as you have seen in this thread.

I restored the mechanical speedometer on my series V. I didn't find it that hard, but it was time consuming. If you want to take a crack at it yourself, here's some background info.
  • Barrie Robinson in Canada sells replacement rubber gaskets (bezel to glass, gauge to dash, etc.). I have used his gaskets. http://www.britcot.com/page_one.htm
  • There are articles showing how to refurbish Jaeger speedos. I assume the mechanical tachometer internals are similar to the speedometer internals.

Some useful gauge restoration info here as well, even though for TR6 gauges: http://mhartman.net/files/sunbeam/Gauge Refurbishing - TR6.pdf
