SAOCA Donation to the Roots Archive Centre

The Club is once again going to make a donation to the Rootes Archive Centre (https://www.rootesarchive.org) to help support their efforts on behalf of all Rootes car owners. The Board members have decided to send them $500 but, we hope to triple that with your help! The Club will match every dollar (pound?) donated by members between now and the end of September, up to another $500. So, another $500 from the members will translate into $1500 for the Centre!

You can, of course, donate directly to the Centre via PayPal. However, the Centre prefers checks – even in dollars – because that way they get 100% of the donation. So, it will be better for them if we bundle the SAOCA contributions and send them one check from all of us. You can donate either via our PayPal account (membership@sunbeamalpine.org) or send a check to our Treasurer, DanR. (If you use PayPal, please remember to use the "Send money to a Friend” option so your entire donation goes to the Centre. Please also make an annotation that it is for the "Rootes Archive Trust".)

That would be the source, but it didn't seem like there was enough interest to pursue it,

Sorry for the long delay, guys. The Board let this fall into the background as we focused on getting everything together for the new membership packets - which thankfully will be going out earlier this year! - and just resurrected it yesterday. We will have the membership totals and our club match to you shortly.

We now have all of the donations tallied. Our members contributed $810 and, as promised, the club will match the first $500 of that, plus $500 more, for a total SAOCA donation of $1,810! Well done SAOCA! Eric will follow up with the Trust to discuss the fund transfer, which will happen shortly.

Also, as promised, I put the names of the donators into a spreadsheet, randomly sorted it and Bob Sharkey's name came out on top. Congratulations, Bob. Eric will add a new grill badge to your upcoming membership packet!

Our thanks to everyone who contributed, both via this fund drive and by financially supporting this club to help make our match possible. We are all helping to keep our cars on the road!
