Reverse

Have a 1964 alpine
Bw35 automatic transmission

It will not go in reverse. Every other gear works.
I have checked transmission fluid. Seem to be full.
Has anybody had this problem and what did you do to fix it?
Thank you

I put the '64 Bw35 into a '63 series 3 for my daughter. Had similar problem not being able to go up a driveway in reverse, all other gears ok.
Here's an extensive link to my thread on the forum.

Just remembered...when I got the car turned around to go up the steep driveway it pulled up and ran fine. We drove it to the mechanic (25 miles away). He test drove it and it shifted fine in all 3 gears. He said third and reverse use the same bands.
