Reliable mechanic to replace transmission

Hello!
We live in Bellingham and are looking for a mechanic to do the work of replacing our transmission. We have the transmission (rebuilt of course, this one with overdrive) for our 1960 Alpine Series I. We will transport the car to the location.

Does anyone have experience with BritSport in Seattle?
I was recommended to Steve Day, British Car Ranch in Wenatchee - but that is over the mountains...
Anything on the west side of Washington State?

Thanks for your thoughts - I'd love to have the work done this winter.
~Robin

Hi Robin,

I can't recommend a mechanic as I'm on the east coast. But overdrive cars require a different (shorter) driveshaft than a standard transmission.

Also a longer speedometer cable. These are available from Sunbeam Specialties and Classic Sunbeam. You will also need the overdrive wiring, relay and switch on the steering column.

I provided Robin with the shortened drive shaft and Jeff Horwath provided a speedometer and cable with the John "the Box" Roseby rebuilt-all synchro -trans and overdrive unit. I believe the only item missing for install was the relay. She just needs a good, preferably Alpine, mechanic to do the install. I wish I would have had the time to do the job before it left my shop. Alas, any mechanic recommendations would be welcomed.

You might want to give Brooklands British Car in Tacoma a call. They have been around a long time.
