PVC valve

Hi all

I don't really trust my 40+ year old PVC valve. Can anyone recommend a suitable alternative? Hopefully there is something similar available at the local auto parts store that will screw into the intake manifold like the stock PVC.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Mike,

There are still quite a few of the original PCV valves around. If the car has been looked after with low miles they should still work well. The trouble with find a replacement is that most of the PCV valves are a push in type, so you will have to modify the setup. Some people have cut a hole into the rocker cover to install one. You may be lucky to find an alternative that is identical to the Alpine, but I think you will find it won't be easy.

Regards, Robin.

It might be a good idea to see if you can clean out your existing PCV valve. I believe the WSM has a diagram and instructions for this procedure. I soaked mine in some cleaner and dried it out- to good effect.

NAPA parts stores have a Datsun (Nissan) parts number. I am trying that now. no report yet.

Here are two part numbers that work well I use these on my Alpine They are made by Standard Motor Products inc, V-115 and V-100 You can get them at Advance or Auto Zone or just about any good Auto parts store:cool:

Thanks. I'll give these a shot. I took apart my valve and it appears that 1/2- 1 coil of the spring is missing. As the valve feeds un-metered air into the intake, I'd like to be sure that the valve is in good working order to avoid tuning problems.
