Poorly Fitting Soft Top

My '66 Tiger came with a fairly new soft top as the PO had torn the original trying to install the hard top. The top fits poorly, with major gaps between the top and the window glass. Pretty useless in a rain storm (rains over 60" a year in Baton Rouge!). Also, to get it to latch, it need to be warm so it will stretch enough. All that being said, I'm now aggravated enough to change it out.

I assume the top is a Robbins. Do the British Everflex offered by Sunbeam Specialties and better making them worth the

The fit of the window glass to the top is a function of the frame and/or the window travel stop. Nothing to do with the top itself. Hard latching can be a result of the weather stripping on the header bow, but hard to say for sure without seeing it in person.

I appreciate your insight but it appears that the windows travel as far as possible. The top is currently down; when it warms up and I can get it fully latched, I'll take a photo for your review and comment. Thanks

Sounds like the top was installed improperly. Unscrew the bottom of the top all the way around. Put the top up and, as Mike says, adjust it to fit around the window correctly.

You may also find the front edge is too tight and needs to be undone and reattached. And if that is also a problem, hopefully there is enough material to pull out.

Then reattach the back of the top. Note, in case you didn't know, only the long rear metal strip is screwed over the top material. The two side strips are screwed right to the rubber trim and to the body. The top is loose on the sides.
