It does not appear to be a 1964 or a S3. It has a S1/2 windshield and presumably doors. So in addition to the engine and frame (etc.) being swapped, either the windshield and doors were swapped - or the VIN plate was swapped. Hmmm.

A friend of mine texted me about an hour ago to tell me that they featured a preview of the LS3 Alpine about an hour ago. It will be auctioned some time today.

High bid was $70,000, which did not meet the reserve. However, it looks like bidding and negotiation on lots of cars goes on after coverage ends, so there might be more to the story.
